Seared Ahi Tuna
Here is a super simple seafood recipe that I am absolutely in love with! I am a huge fan of pretty much all kinds of seafood, but one of my current favorites is Ahi Tuna. I must admit I am not a fan of cooked tuna, but any kind of raw tuna is a go-to for me. I always order Tuna Tartare whenever I see it on the menu at any restaurant!
In the summer we love going to the farmer’s market which is every Saturday in our shore town. It is so much fun to go there and walk around on a beautiful Saturday morning before going to the beach. They have so much fresh produce, seafood, and baked goods at the market so we are always trying different things! Some of our best tuna steaks have come from the farmer’s market. They are so fresh, so this dish has become one of our beach weekend go-to’s!
This recipe is also too easy which everyone has to love! You simply marinate the tuna steaks in olive oil, soy sauce, and black pepper for about an hour turning them over frequently. Then you sear them on the grill or over the stove and there you have it! We always make ours pretty raw then slice them and serve them with either wasabi or horseradish sauce!
a. Ingredients:
3 Ahi Tuna steaks 1 ½ inches thick
¼ cup of olive oil
¼ cup of soy sauce
Coarse black pepper
b. Directions:
Place the olive oil and soy sauce in a shallow glass dish and stir to combine; lay the tuna steaks in a single layer, sprinkle them with black pepper, and let them marinate for at least an hour turning frequently
Heat a grill or a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat; spray with olive oil cooking spray
Sear the tuna steaks 1 ½ minutes on each side for rare (adjust the time depending on the thickness)
Remove from heat, slice the tuna, and serve with wasabi
