Sesame Panko Oven Fried Shrimp with Zesty Sweet Chili Sauce

Sesame Panko Oven Fried Shrimp with Zesty Sweet Chili Sauce

Sesame Panko Oven Fried Shrimp with Zesty Sweet Chili Sauce. Crispy shrimp breaded in sesame seeds and panko. Dipped in a tangy sweet chili sauce and served with a honey mustard aioli. It’s easy, it’s delicious, and it’s loaded with bold flavors. A little sweet, a little spicy, a little zesty. SO good !!

Anyone feeling a fun shrimp weeknight dinner or maybe even a weekend appetizer?! I was really in need of a fun dinner to lightening up the day. You know when you just have one of those days at work? Well that was me today. I was hoping for an easy, relaxed Thursday, but kind of got the opposite. At my company Thursday is our Friday since we have Friday’s off. So at the end of the day on Thursday’s things can get kind of hectic because it’s crunch time before the weekend. Today was unfortunately one of those days.

Anyway, this was a fun, easy dinner to lighten the mood. Everyone in my family loves fried shrimp because honestly, how could you not?! Tonight we went for a little bit of a healthier version and did oven fried. So not totally fried, am I right?!

Then my favorite part…dipping in ALL the sauces. Because let’s be honest, you can never have too many sauces, and I am a big dipping sauce girl. A sweet chili sauce, a honey mustard sauce. Both good alone, but also amazing paired together.

It’s a simple meal, but it’s delicious. And if you’re a big sauce enthusiast like myself, you will totally love this recipe !!

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs beaten

  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp; peeled and deveined

  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • salt and pepper

  • olive oil spray

  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce

  • zest and juice 1 lime

  • 1/3 cup honey mustard

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs. In a large bowl, mix the Panko, flour, sesame seeds, and paprika. Stir in salt and pepper to taste. Dip the shrimp, two at time, in the eggs. Coat with the Panko mixture. Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with olive oil. Do this until all the shrimp have been dipped in egg and coated in breadcrumb.

  2. Spray the shrimp with olive oil. Transfer to a 425 degree oven. Bake for 6 - 8 minutes until starting to crisp. Flip over and bake another 4 - 6 minutes until golden.

  3. While shrimp is cooking make the sauces. For the Zesty Sweet Chili Sauce combine the sweet chili, lime zest, and lime juice in a small bowl. For the Honey Mustard Aioli combine the honey mustard and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Serve alongside shrimp.
