Pasta alla Vodka with Burrata & Basil. A classic sunday sauce. Simple, delicious, and everyone loves it. I mean you guys, pasta alla vodka is hard not to love, you know?! If you’re looking to spice it up a little bit add some creamy Burrata, basil leaves, and a heavy sprinkling of fresh cracked black pepper on top. Sunday’s are for the simple Italian pasta dishes and of course some wine !!
After a weekend of beachy eats down the shore, we came home ready for some Italian Sunday comfort food. I think you guys know by now that Sunday’s in our house are dedicated to pasta and Italian foods….and wine…obviously. It’s a tradition that we have held for so so long.
Sometimes in the summer we do Sunday’s a little differently and make something beachy if we are still down the shore. Seafood or salads or cocktails…something a little different than our typical Italian Sunday. But no matter what there is ALWAYS pasta.
One of everyones favorites in our house is vodka sauce. It is probably one of the most simple recipes out there, but it is just so good. I think it’s so good because it’s so simple. Since it is a simple recipe, sometimes we do it up with some extra toppings. Tonight we went for some creamy burrata and fresh basil leaves. And we went a liiiittle heavy on the fresh cracked black pepper…oops.
Anyway, a little comfort food was necessary tonight because it’s time for another week of work and the Sunday scaries have definitely hit for me !!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup vodka
1 pint homemade or store-bought marinara sauce
1/2 pint heavy cream
Salt and pepper
1 pound pasta
8 ounces burrata
fresh basil leaves for topping
Directions
In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Pour in the vodka, increase the heat to high. Ignite the vodka to burn off the alcohol.
When the flames die down, add the marinara sauce and cook for 3 minutes. Add the heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Simmer for another 5 - 8 minutes. Set aside
Cook the pasta and drain. Add the pasta to skillet with the vodka sauce, tossing to combine. Serve topped with burrata and fresh basil.
