Fried Calamari

Fried Calamari

Fried Calamari. Have you ever craved going to a restaurant just to get the fried calamari because you didn’t know how easy it was to make at home?! Not only is it easy, but it’s just as delicious. It’s a simple appetizer, but everyone just seriously loves it.

Let’s be honest, fried calamari can be addicting. We have been making this appetizer way too much lately. But with fall coming up there are SO many great occasions to make this appetizer. Labor Day weekend BBQ? Fried Calamari and cocktails! Sunday football? Serve up some Fried Calamari and beers! Christmas Seven Fishes Feast? Yes, let’s jump that far ahead, and serve Fried Calamari for cocktail hour!

The fact that it’s so simple and so delicious is what makes it great for so many occasions. Everyone in my family just loves it, and it seriously is so fun to serve!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds calamari tubes and tentacles; tubes sliced into 1/2 inch rings

  • 2 cups flour

  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 cups canola oil

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl season the flour with parsley, salt, and pepper. Lightly salt the calamari and dredge in the flour mixture.

  2. Meanwhile, in a large deep skillet, heat canola oil until very hot. Add the calamari in batches, and fry until golden on each side.

  3. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
