Apple Butter Blondie Bars with Maple Glaze

Apple Butter Blondie Bars with Maple Glaze

Apple Butter Blondie Bars with Maple Glaze. Officially in the fall weekend baking mood and these apple butter blondies are SO addicting you guys. They’re super gooey, filled with all the flavors of fall and topped with a brown buttery maple glaze. And there is absolutely nothing better than fall baking, am I right ?!

It’s the first weekend of fall…you need some fall baking in your life, you know? Nothing gets me more in the spirit of fall like some weekend fall baking. It’s the perfect way to get into the fall mood and make your kitchen feel like the perfectly festive spot and of course make the whole house smell AMAZING.

My first thought when I think fall desserts is apples and pumpkin. They are basically the two key ingredients for fall baking. Of course there are other fun fall baking ingredients, but apple and pumpkin are definitely my favorite for desserts. Since I did pumpkin last week, this week I went with apple. And these blondie bars are just SO addicting you guys definitely need to try them.

They’re super gooey from the apple butter and topped with tons of cinnamon coated apples. They have a brown buttery batter and they’re topped with a brown butter and maple glaze. All the flavors and ingredients of fall packed into one blondie bar that is so SO good.

It’s another gorgeous day of weather. I woke up and had my coffee in bed. Then I squeezed in a workout and got right to baking these bars and making the apple butter for them. I love to make the apple butter myself rather than buy it at the store because I make a big batch and use it for baking throughout the fall. Tonight I have plans in the city, so between my baking, the weather, and being in the city, I am totally feeling and loving these fall vibes.

Happy fall Saturday guys !! What fun fall things are you guys baking up this weekend?!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter

  • 1/2 cup apple butter (homemade or store-bought)

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar; divided

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 2 1/4 cups flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon; divided

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 honey crisp apples; chopped

For the Maple Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Allow the butter to brown for about 3 minutes or until it smells toasted. Remove from heat and stir in the apple butter and 1 cup of brown sugar. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

  3. In a medium bowl, combine the apples, remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and remaining teaspoon of cinnamon. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the batter. Transfer to the oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until bars are set. Let cool.

  4. Meanwhile make the Maple Glaze. In a small pot, melt the butter. Allow the butter to brown for about 3 minutes or until it smells toasted. Remove from heat and add the maple syrup, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle the glaze over the bars and let set. Slice the bars and serve.
