Dark Chocolate Orange Biscotti
Dark Chocolate Orange Biscotti. Christmas cookie season might be over but you can never have too many cookies, am I right?! And these chocolate orange biscottis are the perfect cookie for dunking in your espresso or espresso martini ;))) and bonus ?! They’re drizzled with extra chocolate to make them even better !! Happy Saturday guys !!
I don’t make biscottis very often throughout the year, but I don’t know what it is about the holiday season that makes me want to bake them. And even though the holiday season is over…it’s never too late for more biscottis, you know?!
These are a dark chocolate and orange infusion in a crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside Italian cookie. The dark chocolate and orange combo is a perfect match. And the best part is…we have a huge box of oranges from Florida that my dads friend is kind enough to ship us every year around the holidays. So the citrus is super fresh.
And finally that extra drizzle of dark chocolate…because you can never have too much chocolate, am I right?! Cheers to the weekend and good desserts !!
Ingredients
1/4 cup butter; room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons orange zest
1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sliced almonds
1 cup dark chocolate chips
6 ounces dark chocolate; melted for drizzling
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating until combined. Mix in the orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat to combine. Fold in the almonds and chocolate chips.
Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a 2 x 13 inch log. Bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven and let cool.
Cut the logs into slices and arrange slices, cut side up, on the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, flipping the cookies halfway through.
Once the cookies have cooled, drizzle them with the melted dark chocolate.
