Creme Brûlée French Toast
Another weekend, another Sunday Funday Brunch! For this weekends Sunday brunch we decided to go with something sweet since we have done savory the past couple of weekends. This dish definitely did not disappoint either!
It was also another amazingly beautiful weekend at the Jersey shore! We have had the greatest weather this summer, and every weekend has been filled with so much fun and good foods! Today I woke up extra early so I could get this dish prepared before we went to the beach! We popped some bubbly for mimosas to pair with this sweet dish, and then we went to the beach to enjoy the beautiful sun!
Keep on keeping up with our Sunday Brunches on our Instagram!
Ingredients:
1 cup of brown sugar
½ cup of butter
2 tbsp of light corn syrup
5 slices of Challah bread
1 ½ cups of half and half cream
5 eggs
1 tsp of vanilla
1 tsp of Grand Marnier
¼ tsp of salt
Powdered sugar
Syrup and fresh berries for garnish
Directions:
In a medium sized sauce-pan heat the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup, stirring until well combined
Spray a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray then evenly pour in the syrup mixture to coat the bottom of the baking dish
Place the slices of bread in a single layer over the syrup mixture squeezing them in to fit the dish
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the half and half, eggs, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt; pour the egg mixture over the bread, pressing down to make sure all the pieces are submerged
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degree and bake for approximately 40 minutes or until the edges of the bread become golden; garnish with powdered sugar, syrup, and fresh berries
